Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom - Vienna, Austria

This exciting hotel is a great place to stay if you are seeking for a real Hyperhotel with killer views.

We arrived with our Airport Limousine (25 Euros One-Way, booked by myself) and we were greeted by a Porter, which showed us the way to the front desk. At the front desk we were checked-in by Mark, who seemed to be still in training. As a proud member of Le Club Accor on Platinum Status (the highest level - although I did never stay at Sofitel before!) I expected a great welcome. Indeed it was bad. Mark told us that we have to pay an additional 80 Euros per night for the extra-bed which we never requested, as we booked a room with 2 Double Beds.

After a few minutes of conversation, we arrived on the 15th Floor - Room 1508 - a Luxury Room with 2 Double Beds and Views of the Prater and the St. Stephans Cathedrale. The bathroom was large with separte walk-in shower and bath tub. The toiletries were from Hermes - there was also an Eau de Toilette in Travel Size from the Eau d'Orange Verte range. The air-conditoner was installed on 16°c (this was the reason why I got sore throat the next day!).

The breakfast is served on the top floor, the 18th floor in the Le Loft Restaurant with killer views over Vienna. We really could see all sights! From Schloss Belvedere, St. Stephans Cathedrale, Opera House, Parliament to the City Hall. Simply stunning. The buffet was enormous as well. The hot chocolate was impeccable as the scrambled eggs with chives and ham. And the best: The Buffet Breakfast at 38 Euros was included in the room.

The So Spa is definitely worth a visit and is stocked with Cinq Mondes Products, as well as Hermes Shampoos and Shower Gels in the changing rooms. The two Jacuzzis and the Hamams en-suite are separated until 12 noon by gender - afterwards they can be used by both: man and woman. The staff at the So Spa on 5th Floor is also excellent and they are very personal and friendly.

We might be back in the future, in case I get a rate as good as this time. With listed standard rates from 250.00 Euros this is a real top-notch property.
